Lobato:

Lobato: "It's done!'

The Portuguese Francisco Lobato (ROFF TMN) has illuminated the night of his Bahian flares, a few seconds after greeting the jury's boat.  The Series winner, happy and relieved, was celebrated by his friends gathered on the dock of the marina's yacht club. "It's done!" he exclaimed. And he honoured his predecessor, Charlie Dalin that arrived yesterday afternoon, and that therefore insufficiently filled the big (22 hours) delayed of the first step.

Francisco Lobato wins The Charente-Maritime/Bahia Transat 6.50 for Series.

The Portuguese Francisco Lobato (ROFF TMN) just won the 17th edition of The Charente-Maritim/Bahia Transat 6.50 by crossing the finish line in the Bahian night, at 8h 10 min and 15 sec. (French Time). Overpassed yesterday by Charlie Dalin for the leg's victory. He wins the overall for Series thanks to the 22 hours ahead of time.

"I won the transat!"

The transatlantic portion of the Transat 6.50 Charente-Maritime/Bahia of course. Charlie Dalin arrived in the golden light of Bahia's afternoon as the undisputed winner in this long leg to Brazil. His race time was 20 days, 6 hours, 36 minutes. He has traveled the 3 100 nautical miles sbetween Funchal (Madeira Islands) and Salvador de Bahia, at an average speed of 6.43 knots. His cumulative time is 27 days, 7 hours, 28 minutes and 10 seconds, at an average speed of 6.53 knots. 
We will not know not until the arrival of Francisco Lobato (ROFF TMN) who won The Charente-Maritime/Bahia Transat 6.50, knowing that theFrancisco is more than 22 hours ahead of Charlie.

Trautman first non-French in Bahia!

Slim, tanned, bright smile, the South African relieved is falling into the arms of his mother that came straight from Durban to welcome her younger son in Bahia. After crossing the bay of Salvador in the absolute dead calm, Trautman has livery quickly put away all his sails, happy to finish with this mad challenge that he had imposed to himself two years. Without speed indicators since the mid race, Matt admits he sailed like a blind, surprised by the equator to be 1st in the rankings, "I'm not sure I understood the message of the radio that day " he confessed in a big smile "For me it was something incredible, I had a good laugh." Things, after that, were a bit more complicated. "My tack east did not pay off, but I decided to ignore the rankings." Anyway, he can smile Matt, as he is the first of the 33 non-French competitors to reach Salvador.

Picault offers a 6th Transat to N°198

He said it emphatically before the start of The Charente-Maritime;  happy and truculent skipper of a yacht that belongs to the legend of the race, the plan Magnen No. 198 Karen Liquid, renamed "Kickers" for the 2009 edition, that he - Sébastien Picault - aspired to nothing less than to offer a sixth crossing to one boat that won the race twice in 1997 and 1999 in the hands of Seb Magnen. And "Pic'" did it! with varying degrees of panache being with the bests before the equator, and more or less success, by losing (too) soon his spinnaker, "party all folded and packaged with a treacherous wave. Picault has madehis entry into great shape in the port of Bahia in the mid day (French time), laughing, talkative, speaking at supersonic speed of thousands thoughts he had with all the skippers who had come to greet him, "One of arrival of "Pic"", iyou can not miss it!" And indeed, the man speaks and there are around him lots of laughter , when he says a colorful way his little misfortunes at sea. Sébastien Picault, finished 11th at Bahia, in 19 days, 23 hours, 36 minutes 23 seconds (at 6.53 knots average). His overall time is 28 days, 22 hours, 59 minutes and 29 seconds at an average speed of 6.16 knots.

Thirty-five minutes after Pierre Brasseur, Laurent Bourgues crossed the finish line of The Charente-Maritime/BahiaTransat 6, 50 at 8h 57' 43'', Paris time. He finished 9th in the second leg in 19 days 17h 55' 43'' at an average speed of 6.60 knots. And with a smiling face!

Pierre Brasseur: "I could have stayed at sea a little longer."

Pierre Brasseur (Nord-Pas de Calais Ripolin) has completed the Charente-Maritime/Bahia Transat 6,50. He crossed the line at 10h 22' 00'', French time. His second leg betwen Funchal and Bahia took 19 days 17h 26' 00'' at an average speed of 6.61 knots . He finished 8th in the second leg.

Fabien Despres, 7th

Fabien Després (Soitec) crossed the finish line 26 minutes after Olivier Avram. It was 8h 58' 59'' in France. His leg two, between Funchal and Bahia, took 19 days 15h 56'5 9'' at an average of 6.63 knots. He finished 7th in proto category. Pierre Brasseur (Nord-Pas de Calais Ripolin) is expected next night in Bahia.

Olivier Avram 6th proto Bahia

Olivier Avram (Cap Monde 2) finished sixth in the second leg of The Charente-Maritime/Bahia Transat6,50. He crossed the finish line last night in Bahia - 8h32'43''(Paris time). His leg two, between Funchal and Bahia, took 19 days 15h 30' 43'' at an average speed of 6.64 knots. Fabien Després (Soitec) is the next skipper awaited in Bahia.

Cuinet:

Cuinet: "I fought like crazy!"

There are five prototypes in the Marina of Bahia. The fifth one is Francis Cuinet 's (Plan Jardin) who crossed the line at 19h27'17'' (Brazil Time). It took him 19d 9h 25m 17s to cover the 3200 miles between Funchal and Bahia at an average speed of 6.71 knots. Twelfth in Funchal, the man has done an excellent race in this second leg. He will certainly be in the top ten.
